Cliffs

172 Northdown Road, Cliftonville, Thanet, Kent, England, United Kingdom

Cliffs offers a workspace upstairs for £5, including a drink and food discount. While WiFi and power options are good, comfort is lacking due to hard, wobbly tables and seating. The atmosphere is quiet but may not be ideal for calls. Food and drink quality is excellent.

Cliffs is a lovely independent cafe in Cliftonville, Margate. Their coffee and food is excellent and the staff are friendly and welcoming. You are not allowed to use laptops downstairs. This is because they have whole workspace area upstairs. You pay £5 to work from up there for the day, and that includes a cup of tea or filter coffee, and you also get 10% off food. I liked Cliffs as a cafe, so I really wanted to like their workspace. But unfortunately, I don't. I've been here twice, and both times I've found it uncomfortable. The rustic tables are wobbly and not ergonomic. They have been painted and that made them a bit sticky. The seating is hard and uncomfortable, preventing me staying here for more than an hour, let alone the whole day. There are power outlets in most places but not all. The first time I came there was no power in the large centre table but they have since added a power strip here. There's music playing, which means it's not suitable for professional calls. And it's also got a quiet sterile atmosphere upstairs that makes me feel uncomfortable. Maybe it's me, but if it's not a real coworking space I would prefer the background noise of a normal cafe.
